Travel Pro Interview Series: Layla from Los Angeles

How to get around like a local and much more.

By Ankita Seth

Q: When you travel, what is your best hack for getting from one place to another?

Layla: I tend to look for the best transport options & ways locals recommend getting around! Uber May be the best way to get around in Kuala Lumpur but in Bali it’s a rip off! So I make sure to research before heading anywhere!

Q: How do you find cheap flights?

Layla: I find comparison websites and also gather points from one certain airline I love so I can use my points for travel! Also for us citizens I recommend CHASE sapphire cards as they have great travel rewards!

Q: What countries are next on your list?

Layla: Well I’ve just recently moved back to the states after 3 years of non stop travel! So I’m trying to stay local and discover more of the USA as there’s so much to see! Also my neighboring countries like Mexico, Canada & the Caribbeans!

Q: What is your favorite place in the world to travel and why?

Layla: My fav places are (as I can’t say one... too hard!) Lake Tahoe, California, Arenal, Costa Rica, Prague, CZ, Bali, Indonesia,The Greek islands, And last but not least all of Portugal!

Q: When did you start traveling, and what made you want to travel?

Layla: I started traveling with my family at a very young age (4 years old!) road trips & such. I had long distance relationships on high school & college which allowed me to travel. But my major travel obsession came when I moved to Prague after undergrad & I’ve not stopped traveling ever since!

Q: Where would you go if you could fly anywhere in the world right now?

Layla: I would go to Australia & travel the entire continent! It looks brilliant!

Q: If you could become a local in one of the places you’ve travelled, which place would it be? And why?

Layla: Hmmm tough one! I would say Spain or Bali! Spain because the people are so proud, fun lifestyle, food is delicious & amazing diverse landscapes great weather! Bali because the same reasons as well!
